Are you looking to save some energy? Would you like to cut your air conditioning bill this summer and cut your heating bill this winter? Maybe you should take a look at insulated thermal curtains. Not only pull thermal curtains and drapes keep heat either in or out of your home, they had the added damage of being thicker and heavier than normal drapes.

Why is this a plus? Because they also block light -- the sunlight that fades your carpeting and furniture fabric. They're able to do this because of the thermal curtain lining. This is an extra layer of fabric, normally white or neutral tone and with a tight weave. Sometimes it can be coded with proprietary material to make it more reflective.

Although we normally think of installing thermal curtains in the summer when the afternoon sun is making us over trying to watch TV, they also offer huge benefits in the winter. Obviously, they help hold heat in the house and keep the whole cold outside.

But they're thicker material and full-length also helped block drafts from small window leaks, and restrict airflow between your window in the west of the room. They are a basic part of your energy efficiency strategy, as well as outdoor wall decoration. Properly installed thermal drapes can create a noticeable difference in the warmth of a room, especially if the windows are old or poorly maintained.

So how much extra you going to have to pay for this extra utility? Not much. Normally thermal curtains, or thermal lined curtains as they are sometimes called cost just about the same as regular curtains. The thermal backing is normally cotton or polyester which means that they are machine washable for easy cleaning.

If you're ready have curtains you simply need to keep the afternoon sunshine and baking your dining room, consider thermal curtain liners. This is like an extra set of curtains that hangs behind your regular curtains, providing insulating and the light blocking characteristics.

An added bonus is that they keep dust and dirt off of at least one side of your regular curtains, and they also help to prevent color fading. Be sure to double check the color combination that you're creating and make sure that you're not going to clash. You have to be sure that you don't create a color palette issue with your existing iron wall art or paintings.

One thing to keep in mind is that by their very nature these curtains are heavier than regular curtains. They also will always be full-length curtains, meaning that they can be unwieldy and difficult to handle. Make sure you've got some help at hand when it comes time to hang these.

BUt are these curtains worth to buy? Doe they really make a difference or are just another new marketing name for the same old stuff?
